Why Kiwi by Proxy?

Kiwi by Proxy was born out of my love of music coupled with my amazement at how little exposure there was to such a rich and full music scene hidden away in the Southern Hemisphere.

There are many wonderful bands in New Zealand. My little blog is but a small way to bring them the exposure they deserve.

Ian Henderson of Fishrider Records said on my MySpace group “Well those have most of the bases covered…There are some other on-line retailers I’ll list below that may be worth checking. I haven’t used any of these but I know that New Zealand CDs has a lot of “out of print” stuff from the old days so is worth a look.

One of the best labels/distributors to trawl through is Powertool Records. Is there anyone in recent years who has done more to bring the under-appreciated artists of the New Zealand underground to the attention of others Kiwis and the world than Andrew Maitai of Powertool Records and also Powertool Records German connection Thomas Keitsch of Hamburg?

I can’t sing the praises of these guys highly enough. OK, I can’t sing at all, but that’s neither here nor there…And speaking of not being able to sing at all, don’t forget

Koru Branch said on my MySpace group forum. “For anyone in the UK reading this, Spacific net have an online store selling a range of CDs by NZ artists. :-)
